I have already sharpened a variety of knife styles, widths, and materials for me and my two kids' families. The results were dramatic, requiring a warning to all who were going to use them and might be expecting the earlier "butter knife edge." But, with awareness, the old admonition that "a sharp knife is a safe knife" will enhance the results and the experience and reduce the effort and likelihood of an injury.
I have sharpened Henckels, Solingen, Wusthof, and Zwilling, as well as cheaper stainless and carbon steel knives. The results have been great for all the expensive knives and most of the cheaper ones.
The price for this machine was very reasonable and significantly less expensive than all of the more prestigious name sharpeners! And, I can't imagine any of the pricier machines would have yielded any better results.
I'm very happy that I took the chance with it. It feels sturdy and should last for a long time!!

I've owned a couple of electric knife sharpeners. They've all left me with a luke warm feeling as to whether they were actually doing much beyond a very light hone and seemed useless on neglected knives. A friend recently recommended this one and I saw it on here at a reasonable price. Wow....just wow. I had a set of old Chicago Cutlery (made in USA...the new ones are all made in China) chef knives that had been neglected and went to town on them per the manual. In about 15 minutes they were all RAZOR sharp. You've got to be a bit careful with the most coarse stone though. I was a bit careless with that one on a throwaway practice steak knife. It can take quite a bit of material off in a short time if you're not careful. That turned into a feature on a couple of the older knives that had light chipping on the blade edges. My old sharpeners were unable to do anything with these. Needless to say, the old sharpeners are all now in the garbage.

It's an amazing tool to sharp your knives. In a kitchen, we do a lot of chopping. Expensive knives do keep the edge longer, but you still have to sharpen them often. I tried other sharpeners besides honing steel, but the knives wouldn't work long. I have a german made cleaver which was totally dull and other sharpeners only make it work for couple of days. This one definitely is the solution. Now, after almost two months it still works perfectly. One of my friends brought all of his knives to try the machine. I was using a folded 64 layers kitchen paper towel for testing and he was totally convinced by the performance. On the second day he send me a massage said cutting was so easy now.
With this sharpener, you don't have to pay hundreds of dollars for super expensive knives but just sharpen your cheap ones a little more often. It is a must have in anyone's kitchen. Highly recommended!

This product works very well. I had a set of knives about 15 years old and they got to the point of being very difficult to cut anything with, and had never been sharpened during that time. Rather than throwing them out and getting a new set of knives, I decided to try a knife sharpener. Not sure how well other products work since this is the first knife sharpener I have ever used, but this one made my knives as good as new again. It made such a difference! The instructions explain what the different settings are for, very minimalistic and simple and easy to understand. Like other reviewers have said with this and other products, you have to be careful with serrated knives. Any knife sharpener will wear down the serrated part (that's how a knife sharpener works after all) but just a second or two with this product and my serrated knives were sharp again. The only downside I can think of is that I don't use knives often enough to need frequent sharpening. So if you have a friend, relative, neighbor, or someone to share this with, it will make the investment more worthwhile.

I don't know about the rest of you but I hate dull knives, this product is wonderful. I was able to sharpen all my large knives, steak knives, and all my other utility knives and it took practically no time at all. It was so nice to be able to cut tomatoes without having to squish them to get the knife through and I didn't have to worry about cleaning up the metal particles afterward. Really nice too because I didn't have to depend on my husband to have a sharpened knife.
